2008 Quilt Show - Judged:

Tequila Sunrise

The design for this quilt comes from the Ingalls' 1886 catalog of Embroidery Stamping Patterns. The CD I bought of these designs contains 256 pages, and each page has 4 or 5 designs on it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I chose this pattern.

The entire quilt has 500 points to turn, some better executed than others. By the time I got to number 438 I was pretty burned out. It also has 145 circles, 40 of which are 1/4". What was I thinking? There are many interesting designs on this disk that are adaptable to appliqué, and I hope to use others in the future.

The block patterns were designed by Mary Kay Perry Designs. I love the movement and the graceful look of the Art Nouveau period. I worked on this quilt for about one year.
