2008 Quilt Show
Viewer's Choice & Junior Quilter
  Viewer's Choice
    - Myrna Raglin

1st Place - Myrna Raglin
Tequila Sunrise
(click image to see larger version)

The design for this quilt comes from the Ingalls' 1886 catalog of Embroidery Stamping Patterns. The CD I bought of these designs contains 256 pages, and each page has 4 or 5 designs on it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I chose this pattern.

The entire quilt has 500 points to turn, some better executed than others. By the time I got to number 438 I was pretty burned out. It also has 145 circles, 40 of which are 1/4". What was I thinking? There are many interesting designs on this disk that are adaptable to appliqué, and I hope to use others in the future.

  Junior Quilter Viewer's Choice
    - Matt Richey

Junior Quilter
Jewel in the Box

Matt was very excited about the award of Viewer's Choice. His quilt was named Treasure Chest because of the beach theme fabric. It was a Jr. Quilter's project from two years ago that he finally finished a week before the show. The pattern is Jewel in the Box. Matt just turned 16 and has been in the Jr. Quilt Guild for 6 years.
