Redwork Circus

"Redwork Circus" Redwork patterns are from Under The Big Top, by Marge Wooters (Indygo Junction, Inc.) I had been wanting to make these retro-looking designs for some time and when I found the "Brownie the Clown" fabric for the borders, it was a perfect fit!

It took me many years to collect the signatures of the famous quilters for this quilt. I carried my little stamped blocks and a pen with me to shows and classes for a long while.

Then I constructed them into my version of log cabin house blocks and set them into my hand dyeds to create a landscape of srots.

The embellishments reflect the quilting styles of the many of the quilters. Have you heard Roberta Horton speak of "dog blocks", or seen Rachel Clark's garments, Doreen Speckman's Peaky and Spikes, or Judith Montano's embroidery? ...and many more.

My grandson requested "an Army guy quilt". I told him I needed a picture of an Army guy to make his quilt. He left the room and returned dessed AS an Army guy. I took his picture and had his qult in one week. This is an original design.
