Community Service

By helping with our charity quilts, beginner quilters can learn about squaring up quilted quilts, choosing colors, and cutting batting and backing for our donated quilt tops.

There is always something to do including sewing labels on quilt backs, making up kits, organizing donated fabric, squaring up quilted tops, finding/matching up binding, and is a nice place to share information and get to know others in the guild. Plan to stay all day or just an hour or two.

We are always in need of twin size quilts (60–62 in by 72–80 in) or so. Does not have to be exact. Twin size quilts are given to Hospitality House, Adult Protective Services, Hetty’s Haven. Crystal Ridge or Golden Empire Nursing/Rehab facilities receive lap size quilts for wheelchair residents. We also donate quilts to Living Well Medical Clinic, CASA, Child Advocates, and quilts WITHOUT batting to Child Protective Services. We attempt to also get quilts to people who have lost their homes due to a fire.

We meet the first and third Thursday of each month at the back of the Nevada County Historical Society Building at the wonky intersection of Ridge Rd and Nevada City Highway from 9 to 3.
