Service to Our Community

Community Service sewing: Our Guild is very active in service to the community. We make quilts, walker bags, Christmas stockings and other items which are distributed to fire victims, the elderly and children in need. Members make items in their homes or at our monthly “Drop in and Quilt” held at the same time/location as our Home Workshop above. For more detailed information about our Community Service sewing, visit our Community Service page under Activities.

Scholarships: One important purpose of the Pine Tree Quilt Guild is the promotion of education in the textile arts through participation in the guild, outreach programs, speakers and workshops. In addition, the Guild furthers its educational goals by the granting of scholarships each year to graduating high school students or current college students who are pursuing study in textile arts, design or other art-related fields. Applicants must be residents of Nevada County. For more information on applying for our Scholarship, visit our Scholarship page under Activities.

Education Outreach:  This committee offers help to classroom teachers with quilt-related projects. Volunteer members go into local classrooms to help children with sewing, and learning about quilts with a lending library of children’s quilt books, a play and a collection (“trunk show”) of quilts for children to look at and touch. This committee is currently on hiatus, but you can get more details on our Additional Activities page.
